H265 video file recorded with OBS won't play in QT and Finder

Hi,
I'm trying to record videos in OBS using the custom output, mov format, hevc_videotoolbox encoder and I can reproduce the files from Google Drive, VLC or Davinci for example, but I can't reproduce them using Finder or QuickTime. Does anybody know why this happens and how to fix it so I can reproduce the H265 video files also from QT and Finder? Thank you very much for your help.

It appears you are recording UHD. I've had issues with QuickTime when recording anything over 1080p for more than 20 or 30 minutes. Try using the mkv (Matroska) container for recording & then remuxing to QuickTime. If you still have issues with the file, remux it to MPEG-4.

Yes, I'm recording in UHD, I've tried to use the matroska container and I've searched for info regarding the Muxer settings but I'm not quite sure how to specify it. I also found this option that says "Automatically remux to mp4 (record as mkv)" under the OBS Advanced Recording settings but doesn't seem to affect what I'm doing, the file format is .mkv and I need it to be in .mov or .mp4. Thank you so much for your help.

Container Format is where you will find Matroska. Leave Muxer Settings blank.

Check a log where you have recorded, if your Video Encoder Settings are failing, remove the dashes.

Thank you for your help. I'm still not able to do it, I've tried several different outputs but nothing seems to work.. From Matroska to mov or mp4, with dashes or without them, I've tried many different combinations but I can't get my files to work with QT or Finder.. By checking the log file, I could detect when the Video Encoder Settings failed or worked but sometimes even when it did not fail, it also did not apply the settings I was asking.. Like if it was not failing but it was ignoring my request.
If there is anything else you could think of to help me, it would be really appreciated. Thank you again. =)

If you have a Nvidia GPU that supports NVENC & H265 encoding use it instead of whatever you're trying to do with videotoolbox.
