Audio capture issue with OBS

I have tried every solution under the sun to bring in audio using OBS, but to no avail. I am using a Mac (OS Big Sur). I installed OBS and am attempting to digitize VCR tapes. I can see the video just fine, but nothing enables me to bring in the audio. I've tried BlackHole, creating a MultiOutput Device. I have been able to configure speakers for BlackHole, but no audio comes in with the VCR video. What is the solution?

Make sure you have selected BlackHole in the advanced setting in the audio tab. If that doesn't work, try clicking on the speaker in the menu bar and select BlackHole as the system sound output.

Another new solution which worked for me (I've had lots of trouble with blackhole) - if possible try upgrading to OBS 28 and Ventura, there is a new native OBS sound capture with desktop that works with very little fuss.

If I may suggest something this time giving help instead of asking for it I noticed that if you bought a USB stereo adapter which either has the red and white RCA's or one TRS 3.5 mm and connects to USB and it's designated as a capture device then it'll work on the current version of OBS as of this writing if you include as one of your sources an audio input.

That will make direct capturing of audio easier, at least in streaming mode where everything is captured live and presented live.

If the audio and video are in separate USB devices, there might be a slight delay. You just have to play around and see whether to delay the audio or video.
