Disclaimer: This is a test build, not a full release. This build may contain bugs or broken functionality. For production usage, we still recommend using the latest stable build of OBS. If you are willing to test this build, please let us know if you run into any issues.

OBS Studio 30.2 RC1 is now available for testing! This update adds support for the Twitch Enhanced Broadcasting beta, updated Twitch VOD track support, a new theme system (work in progress, and feedback is very welcome!) a new hybrid MP4 muxer, big updates to Linux encoders including texture support, WebRTC updates, and more!

  • Added support for Multitrack Video streaming [palana]
  • On Twitch, this is known as Enhanced Broadcasting. Currently, this requires Windows and an NVIDIA GPU. Support for other platforms and GPU vendors is planned. For more information, see: https://help.twitch.tv/s/article/multiple-encodes
  • When this feature is enabled, the following data about your system will be sent to the streaming service when starting a stream:
    • OBS config info (canvas width and height, frame rate, encoder width and height, VOD Audio Track setting, OBS version)
    • CPU info (name, speed, core counts)
    • GPU info (model, memory, driver version, device ID, vendor ID)
    • Memory info (free, total)
    • OS info (name, version, arch, emulation)
      • Windows info (gaming feature status: Game Bar, Game DVR, Game Mode, Hardware-accelerated GPU Scheduling)
    • Multitrack Video settings (maximum streaming bandwidth, maximum video tracks)
  • Added support for Enhanced RTMP/FLV multi-track audio and video [palana/kc5nra]
    • Replaces the old metadata-based "VOD Track"
  • Added "Hybrid MP4" output format (BETA) [derrod]
    • Combines fault-tolerance of fragmented MP4 with wide compatibility and faster access times of regular MP4. For more information, see: https://obsproject.com/kb/hybrid-mp4
    • Supports inserting chapter markers into the file via a hotkey or API. These markers are supported by most video players and editing software, such as DaVinci Resolve
  • Added Linux support to the native NVENC encoder [derrod]
  • NVENC AV1 is now supported on Linux
  • Added Linux shared texture support to the NVENC encoder [derrod]
  • Added Linux shared texture support to the QuickSync encoder [kkartaltepe]
  • Added Linux shared texture support to the VA-API encoder [nowrep]
  • Added HEVC support to WebRTC output [murillo128]
  • Added Composable Themes system to simplify theme creation, maintenance, and enable future customisation options [derrod/Warchamp7]

I tried this today, everything (monitors + spectrogram plugin) indicated that my mic + media source was producing audio, but on the stream it was silent. I checked a VOD and it had sound too, nothing changed other than me updating from latest stable to latest beta, and turning on enhanced broadcasting (auto for bitrate + video tracks).
Remaking sources makes audio work again, but I want to avoid this if possible.

Downgrading back to stable makes everything work again.
Is this a bug or me being dumb?

Thanks!

This is a known bug. The Stream Audio Track is currently off-by-one. If you have selected Track 1, Track 2 will be the Stream Audio. This will be fixed in the next beta release.

Hello! Can you shed some light on how the Twitch "Enhanced Broadcasting" encoder settings work? Once I toggle it on, all my encoder settings are disabled, and the bandwidth test stream bandwidth is at ~9000Kbps. What codec is being used? Can I change it? Is AV1 / NVENC supported on Twitch yet? Will it be with the Stable release of this version?

Twitch Inspector reports this:
Encoder
obs-output module (libobs version 30.2.0-rc1)
as the encoder, which doesn't tell me anything useful.

Thank you!

I recommend reading the FAQ linked in the patch notes first as these questions are answered here: https://help.twitch.tv/s/article/multiple-encodes

I've been trying to split my audio by application on my stream for a couple weeks using the twitch vod track to keep music off of the recordings. Every time I apply the twitch stream profile with the twitch vod track and I start stream, the settings automatically change to a custom profile that doesn't enable the twitch vod track setting. I have no issues separating the audio tracks and I have desktop audio turned off so I know it's not pulling audio from the desktop as well. What do?

As far as I know, we did not change anything related to the VLC source this release. Please use our regular support channels for further assistance.
